Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call for International Yoga Day celebration, Lovely Professional University organized Yoga activities at its campus in collaboration with Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, NSS, and NCC. Hundreds of LPU along with NCC Cadets from many schools of the region participated in the yoga activities under the guidance of Ms Rekha from Patanjali Yog Samiti, who was specially invited to conduct the session. Commenced with Yoga prayer, massive yoga-drive concluded with a vow to be always healthy, fit and fine.
Promoting the International Yoga Day, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal shared: “I know very well how much yoga postures and exercises are important for all of us in this hectic world. So, we have carried forward PM Modi’s invocation to celebrate International Yoga Day at the campus.”
The yoga celebrations were held globally after the United Nations had in December 2014 declared June 21 as International Yoga Day. Prior to this, a proposal in this regard was mooted by PM Modi during his first address to the UN General Assembly in September 2014. In this way, India is leading the World on International Yoga Day.
