A five day online Short-Term Course on Digital Marketing for Business Growth organized by Human Resource Development Center, Lovely Professional University got an overwhelming response of 50 participants from all parts of the country including three international delegates, from Indonesia and Malaysia. Mr. Sarabjit Singh Kwatra, Dy. Dean HRDC welcomed on board the spectrum of ardent learners ranging from Entrepreneurs and Self Employed, Corporate Professionals, Staff and Faculty, Research Scholars and students from twenty-eight organizations. The hallmark of the workshop was the lively ambience, practical demonstration with inputs, self-learning video tutorials and access to the recording of each session.

The Day I began with the opening remarks by Dr. Sunaina Ahuja, Professor and Head-Human Resource Development Center, LPU. Dr. Ahuja set the context by identifying the changing preferences of today’s customers who prefer to talk to a chat bot, seek personalized products and services and check online reviews before making purchase decisions like watching a movie, choosing a holiday destination or a hospital for treatment. “Today, we first win the trust of the customer in digital world and then in the real world”, she said.

Dr. Rahul Sharma, Associate Professor and HOD-Academic Operations, the Subject Matter Expert began Day 1 with Digital Marketing orientation followed by hands on exercise of creating a website and content writing using free resources.

Mr. Rajesh Dorbala, Assistant Professor, Mittal School of Business demonstrated Search Engine Optimization -On Page, Off Page & Local SEO on Day 2. An assignment was also rolled out on the day. The third day began with a motivating input by the workshop coordinator before the business of Social Media Marketing – Facebook was taught. Day four had a thrust on Social Media Marketing using Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. Another assignment was given to the participants to put into practice the skills learnt. The focus on the final day was Web Analytics and E-mail Marketing.

The valedictory session was graced by worthy Prochancellor, Lovely Professional University Mrs. Rashmi Mittal. In her presence few of the participants show cased their projects and shared the memorable experiences of the online Short Term Course.

In her key note address the Prochancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal appreciated the efforts of LPU- HRDC and invited the entrepreneur strata amongst the participants to come forward with problem statements, assuring that LPU fraternity would collaborate to seek  effective solutions. “I expect LPU-HRDC to organize more of such training  programs focusing on the practical needs of specific strata of society – particularly we need to cater to the Small and Medium Enterprises, Doctors and Paramedical Staff and Educational Leaders in colleges and schools,” she exhorted.

The participants were highly appreciative of the organization, conduct, immediate responsiveness of the organizing team and the knowledge of the resource persons.
