YouthVibe is HERE!!!!!! Follow my tips and enjoy YV 2016 to the fullest!

1.     Competitions

The first thing you notice while going through YouthVibe 16’s schedule is that most of the space is occupied by the lists of competitive events. With over 110+ events offered to participants from around the world, YouthVibe 16’ brings cash prizes worth ₹20 lakhs for the talented contestants. So you can not miss an opportunity to showcase your skills and bag prizes this time. Competition from within the campus as well as outside the campus can give you more exposure and help you determine where you stand among others.

2.     Be the audience

Obviously, if you have no mood to compete, you can be among the spectators. Hang around with your friends throughout the campus, you can find something happening at every other venue. Be it Bike Stunts near the UniCenter (more often referred to as just “the Mall”), Confera (YouthVibe Dance) at DSA, Synchronicity (YouthVibe Music) at SBRM Auditorium, Theatrix (YouthVibe Theatre) at SSDM Auditorium, or one of the numerous others. This year there are some really cool events categorized as YouthVibe Mega Technical Events, which include Aqua Nfs, RoboWars, GearUp, and few others which will for sure will attract every geek’s attention.

3.     Try different cuisines

Exotic cuisines from around the world are a honeypot for many people. During these 5 days of ultimate fun these dishes will be prepared hot and spicy right in the food stalls in front of the President Stage. Don’t miss a chance to taste some delicious recipes which will enhance your enjoyment of the festival.

4.     Use Social Media

Follow the official facebook pages of the YouthVibe and also keep an eye on the university’s official facebook page for updates and announcements regarding the events. It’s good to know the timings well in advance, and plan your route accordingly. Celebrations are already on in the campus since the second week of October, you can see the video coverage of all the events on YV TV’s official YouTube channel. During the YouthVibe Mega Events the live coverage of every event will be streamed, through LPU’s fiber optic cables, right onto your computer screens.

5.     Follow Hashtags

Good to follow the official pages, but also subscribe to the unofficial #hashtags and share your plans for the upcoming event. Unofficial hashtags help you discover what other people are preparing and how they are fastening their shoe-laces for the events. The following are a few unofficial hashtags on Facebook made by YV enthusiasts:

#YV2016

#Magnitude

#YouthVibe16

#CampusPrincess

6.     Get organized

It may happen that the events you like occur back to back at different venues or may even have been scheduled at the same time. It’s far better to enjoy two events partly than to miss one altogether. Be updated on the changing schedules and be updated with the happenings in the campus. Plan your routes and the events you wish to witness, be on time, and enjoy everything to the fullest.

7.     Comfortable Shoes

You know LPU is spread over 600+ acres, right? YouthVibe spans almost the entire university campus. Right from stage shows at the Campus Café to sports events on the grounds in front of block 57, you surely need some comfortable shoes to walk between the venues. So give up on those high pencil heels and guys keep those heavy high necks aside, wear something you can walk kilometers in.

8.     Buy some retro clothing

This year’s theme is ‘Relive the 90s’, our childhood. The whole campus would be painted in the color of the pre 21st century world. So blend in, order some retro style outfits and celebrate the 90s. Guys, get a bow tie or a set of suspenders, and girls, maybe you could try those elegant, piled high hair styles and wear some polka dotted frocks? Absolutely anything you feel like to fit into the theme. Stuff like this is easily available on online stores like flipkart, ebay, snapdeal, etc.

9.     Get to the front

Many mega events and stage shows like EDM Night and Paridhan Fashion Parade are gonna attract huge audiences. People will line up in front of main stage and squat there all day. And you probably only want to see a few of the acts. Actually, pushing your way through a crowd rarely works, but if you say “excuse me,” people will usually make room. THAT EASY! Don’t let the size of the audience intimidate you. But if that doesn’t work, pretend that you lost someone. Play the “I lost my friend/girl/boy/brother” card and yell out a random (and common) name. People will get out of your way. 😀

10.      Lastly, and most importantly, Dance!

Did you know there is no such thing as a bad dancer? There are only people who dance and people who are boring. Don’t be boring. Among your mates share a few jumps and do some old-school dance moves, no body’s gonna judge you there. Wiggle with the music or wave your hands in excitement, just do it. Dance like no one’s watching you. These will be the moments cherished later on. It’s the festive season at LPU, get involved and feel the vibe.
