What is a CV? What does it stand for? What is the importance of a CV?

Well, being college students, all of us have an idea about what a CV is. Let me make it clearer. “CV” stands for Curriculum Vitae, which is a Latin term meaning “course of life”. A CV is a detailed document which lists your academic and professional history. It includes your personal details, achievements, certificates, awards, projects etc.

  • Why Is A Strong CV So Important?

Your CV is your first impression. Whenever applying for an internship or a job, it is your CV that speaks for you. It gives the employer or the organization an idea and forms their perception about your strengths and skills. Thus, your CV should have the potential to create a very strong impression about you. It increases your chances of being hired!

The best way to practice and polish your favorite skills is to participate in the related events. Example, if you have a craze for speaking, you should participate in Open Mic events, Story Telling events etc. in addition to boosting your confidence, they will help you gradually improve at the particular skill.

  • Attend Workshops

A lot of workshops are organized in the university. They are really informative and help students gain a lot of knowledge and skill. The participants even get certificates. Also, they are interesting and connect to the out-of-the-book world by giving you practical insights.

  • Do Online Certification Courses

Online education websites like Udemy, Coursera, Internshala, etc. offer a varied variety of paid as well as free online certification courses related to almost each and every subject. They are best for utilization of free time because they have small durations and are highly informative.

The concept of internship is very interesting. Internships offer you real industry experience along with training. Websites like Internshala provide Work From Home Internships, which you can do during college days and gain experience and skills while at home or hostel.

  • Do Your Projects Well

The projects you’re made to do at college are not only a part of your course, but also proof to your abilities. They enhance your CV in a great way, and increase your chances of getting hired.

  • Look Beyond Your Course

Maintain a good LinkedIn account, write your own blog, have a good YouTube channel, in short, don’t let your interests die at the cost of your course studies. You never know, they may help you someday.
