LPU B.Tech EEE student Nidhi Nayan, recently visited China as part of a 100-member Sports Delegation. The visit was part of the International Youth Exchange Program (YEP) between India and China, sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
Being on the delegation gave Nidhi and the others an opportunity to meet dignitaries of the Chinese government and interact with their youth. This helped them better understand China and its relationship with India. Students of both the countries exchanged their ideas on culture, tradition, the education system and related topics. Participants also presented programs to showcase the cultural of their respective countries. Nidhi also got the chance to visit prominent places of historic, educational and cultural significance like Beijing, Chengdu, Guilin, and Guangzhou.
Talking about LPU and the China visit, Nidhi said, “No doubt I am very far from my home but being at LPU has always been a great experience for me. Along with my regular studies, I am taught here to be a responsible citizen through the NSS, which brought me the proud chance to be a part of the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. This participation lead to my selection to the delegation. The visit to China has awakened in me a great spirit of internationalism and further strengthened my patriotism. I feel even more motivated now to join the Indian Army to serve my nation and to bring more laurels to my Alma mater.”
Congratulating the promising student, LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal said, “I am happy and proud to see that one more LPU student has registered international presence. Nidhi’s selection for an international delegation from across the country is inspiration for other students as well. I wish Nidhi to many more accolades in future as well.” Mrs. Mittal also said, “I wish there were more such delegations to China and other countries as well. These interactions bring the youths of various countries together and provide leadership the opportunity to channelise their energies towards endeavours that could bring peace and prosperity that world over.”
