Being an Empath

It is both a blessing and a curse to experience and feel everything so deeply.

Being an EMPATH… means you are a person with an intuitive antenna intercepting every energy, good, bad, and ugly, that is within your reach. This puts your life under involuntary influence of other people’s moods, thoughts and whims. You experience people on a keener level than even the most sensitive people, and not just in relation to their emotions. An empath is extremely susceptible to the negative energies of people around them. This can lead to anxiety and depression. Here are a few things you can do to beat that possibility.

1. Don’t be afraid to ask for HELP.

If you’ve been around a bunch of negativity all day, don’t be afraid to ask some upbeat friends to take you for a walk, or go with you to grab a bite. There’s no fault in asking people to help lift that mood a little.

2. Keep your space cosy and soothing.

When you go out into the world, it can really damage your internal self. For that reason, you should keep your house/room space exactly as you like it. Clearing clutter and keeping a clean place can help reduce stress when you’re in your sacred space. Think of it like this, your room is your castle and you are its King/Queen, decorate it as you please. Some suggestions are: you can use led lightings around the walls of your room to give it a mellow and soothing ambience.

3. Talk about your feelings, it’s hard but worth the effort.

You  are one of those people who can listen to someone`s trouble for hours even late at night but find it hard to do the reverse, so share please. You can talk about your feelings with people whom you are close to. You can also talk about them with yourself (and no, that does not make you crazy).  What could you be missing? What are you not getting enough of? Don’t be afraid to hash out your feelings. For a person who can understand other people’s feelings and pain it can be really hard to express themselves, they may come out to be shy or have a feeling that by sharing their feeling they might upset others.

4. Try something cathartic.

Catharsis is the expression of strong emotions to relieve psychological issues. Doing so can help you relieve some stress and detox yourself. Yell it out. Get a punching bag and knock it around. Have a cry. Dance like a madman. Just let it all out in any form, let it flush out from you.

5. Be active.

Feeling down? A little worked-up? Take a walk! Sweat it off. Go to the gym and do some weights. Activity will distract your brain and help your body release endorphins, the feel good chemicals. If hard core exercising is not for you, try dancing. It will relieve your stress and break the monotony of everyday life.

6.No Caffeine.

An empath or not , a high intake of caffeine will always increase anxiety and leave you feeling more irritated. So avoid coffee, carbonated drinks etc. Instead opt for water only, it will not only keep you hydrated, but will help maintain your blood pressure and remove toxins from your body.

I am an Empath and proud to be one, because this world can use people like us. We should start taking care ourselves, so that we can help others.
