The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India His Excellency Muhammad Imran visited LPU. Ambassador Imran is presently the chief diplomatic representative of Bangladesh to India. During his visit to various venues of Lovely Group and LPU Campus, he was greeted by Chairman Ramesh Mittal, Vice Chairman Naresh Mittal, and LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal. He also held important interactions with top management, faculty, and students from Bangladesh to further strengthen the needed educational endeavours in Bangladesh and for its international students enrolled at LPU. Discussions were also held to establish a Unique Chair (Corner) at LPU Campus in the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh.
The life of Bangabandhu is the saga of a great leader, turning people power into an armed struggle that liberated a nation and created the world’s eighth most populous state. Rising from among the people, he was a true democrat and employed only democratic and constitutional weapons until the last moment for the sake of his nation. He firmly established democracy in Bangladesh- one of the least developed countries of Asia. Nothing pleased him more than being close to the masses, knowing their joys and sorrows and being part of their triumphs. He was loved and respected alike by the urban educated and the common masses.
His Excellency Mr Imran was accompanied by his spouse Madame Dr Zakia Hasnat Imran, Counsellor Shahed Bin Aziz and First Secretary Zakir Ahmed. Mr Aman Mittal, Director, LPU welcomed the elite guests at the campus. Mr Aman Mittal apprised the high profiled guests about the illustrious achievements and activities of Bangladeshi students at LPU, and informed that one of the students, Ahsif Khan, was even honoured at the national level Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival for his short film.
The visitors also visited different departments, hostels, laboratories, central library and other areas of importance at the University. While having broad interactions with the students, faculty and other members of staff, Ambassador HE Mr. Imran grasped the glimpses of ideology and working at LPU. Executive Dean at LPU, Dr Sanjay Modi briefed them about the acclaimed academic strengths of the university.
Ambassador HE Mr. Imran was very impressed with what he saw in the university and while leaving wrote that he is pleased to note that nearly 700 Bangladeshi students have qualified from LPU.
Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal mentioned that high words of high profiled guests lay more responsibilities upon us to be always cautious while disseminating the knowledge as per current and future global needs. This is a continuous process at LPU which is attracting more international students from new countries as well. Mr Mittal also expressed his happiness on availing the prestigious offer to establish ‘Sheikh Mujib Chair’ at the campus, on the occasion of centenary celebrations for the dynamic leader of Bangladesh.
In fact, LPU is India’s most internationalized campus with presently 1800+ international students from 40+ countries, studying in 150+ programs. Learning rich diversity at LPU makes them truly global citizens. It also ensures to provide family members like support through a single-windowed dedicated international student support cell.
