With 2016 saying goodbye and 2017 on our doorsteps, here’s a quick look back at the year gone by…
This year we witnessed various events that left us devastated – terrorist attacks that took thousands of lives in the name of god and religion, and natural disasters that came as a result of our insensitivity to our planet.
We succeeded in many space expeditions, opened up new higher education institutes, started smart city planning, banned taking selfies at monuments that can be life threatening, Indian actors established themselves in Hollywood, demonetization left every Indian visiting ATMs to stand in queues for many hours; the idea of cashless transaction is no longer an alien concept here. Our economy grew. Many start-ups saw daylight and are flourishing, and Patanjali has become a household name.
Stars like Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu and sports persons Yuvraj and Harbhajan Singh tied the knot. Rani Mukherjee Chopra and Kareena Kapoor Khan embraced motherhood. Various newbies entered the industry and a few veterans left us.
Olympics was not a super-hit but PV Sindhu and Dipa Karmakar won every Indian’s heart.
India rewrote history by beating Belgium to win the Junior Hockey World Cup.
End of the year brought us a smashing hit from Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan – DANGAL is all anyone is going to be talking about right into 2017.
