Indian national badminton player, Mohali resident Akash Walia, a MBA 2016 alumni, won Bronze medal in Men singles at Pan India Master Games held at Bengaluru, Karnataka. With this win, Akash has qualified for South Korea tour scheduled to be held in January 2023.
Akash has been playing badminton for the last six years and till date he has participated in various district, state and national-level tournaments. “I have also been part of “All India Civil Services” team for the last four years,” adds Akash. Badminton is not the only talent Akash has. He is also good in cycling. He said that he has been regularly cycling and wishes to promote cycling too.
Earlier, in 2019 and 2021, Akash participated and won medals in cycle rally organised by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
Akash gives credit to his mother for all his achievements. “My mom has been my source of motivation and success. It is because of her that what I am today,” he adds. Akash is also running a club named “Fit Foundation”, and regularly shares fitness training to small kids free of cost.
