The proud Vertos of Lovely Professional University celebrated New Year in an unparalleled style, adding a feather in the cap of LPU by winning the overall trophy of Punjab State Youth Festival 2021.
With an outstanding exhibition of talent, LPU lifted the Overall Champions Trophy at the Punjab State Youth Festival organized in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. For a total of 26 competitions in music, literature, dance, art, theatrical, and other categories, the optimism & enthusiasm of our talented Vertos led us to win 22 positions, including 13 first positions, 7-second places, and two third places. Be it dance, music, sports, acting, or poetry, LPU has proved to be a powerhouse of talent yet again, giving this year an incredible start.
The exquisite grounds of Lovely Professional University facilitated the three-day annual mega Punjab State Youth Festival 2021 from January 2 to January 4, 2021. Under the support of the Department of Sports and Youth Services, Punjab, the fest was contrived to energize talented young people of the state to compete with confidence and energy. The deserted campus was again lively with the beats of bhangra and tunes of classical music after ten months when thousands of talented youths from every corner of Punjab registered for participation.
The first three champions of various events at individual and group levels represented Punjab state in the 24th National Youth Festival (NYF) held in New Delhi from January 12 to 16, 2021. In NYF 2021, the state winners rivaled toe to toe with thousands of other exceptional talents from various states to make their steel. Screening of the enrolled members from all regions of Punjab was finished by the organizing committee involving Dr. Kamaljeet Singh Sidhu (Director, Youth Services, Punjab), Preet Kohli (Assistant Director, Youth Services, Kapurthala), Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal (Dean, Division of Student Welfare), and Dr. Manish Gupta (Deputy Director, LPU).
After three-day neck to neck competitions, LPU Pro-Chancellor, Mrs. Rashmi Mittal gave over the victors’ glimmering prize to the proud Vertos of LPU, champs from Punjab University Chandigarh, Punjabi University Patiala, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana, IKG PTU Kapurthala, CU Gharauan and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Madam, while appreciating the young, energized souls with an innovative and inventive approach, conjured all members to consistently have optimism as the main priority for positive results in life. In a post-event talk, Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal (Dean-Division of Student Welfare), said that LPU won first positions in several competitions, highlighting, Contemporary Dance for both Solo and Group; One-Act Play; Indian Music Band; Stand Up Comedy; Elocution; Painting; Classical Instrumental (Non-Percussion); Classical Sitar Vadan; Three Classical Dances-Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, and Kathak and Street Play.
‘Fest’ having a dream and mission of advancing state-wide competitions in the cultural and social circle, additionally empowered the talented young people of the state and the nation to compete with idealism and enthusiasm. The ‘Punjab State Youth Festival 2021’ ended on a happy note!
