LPU BPES student and boxer Parveen Hooda won Gold medal in the women’s 63kg category at the Asian Boxing Championships 2022. Parveen defeated Japan’s Kito Mai in the final by a margin of 5-0. Earlier this year she won a Bronze in the World Women’s Boxing Championships. Similarly, LPU BPES student Preeti won a Bronze medal in 57kg category.  She produced a spirited performance against Turdibekova Sitora of Uzbekistan to win her last eight bout 5-0.

This is not the first time an article is being dedicated to the two boxing champions as they have been bringing glory to the Lovely Professional University for a very long time. Parveen grabbed medals on various international platforms and boxing tournaments like World Boxing Championships 2022 being held in Istanbul, Turkey, South Asian Games 2019. Along with Parveen, Preeti is the 2021 Asian Youth Boxing champion.

Parveen believes that it is her hard work that is giving her results. “It is said that there is nothing else that can be compare with hard work. If you are dedicated to your goal, success will surely come.” Parveen is a foodie by heart, but she has to keep things in control as her training requires her to maintain a healthy diet. “I love momos, burgers etc. but I keep my control not to indulge in unhealthy diet.”

Reaching such a big platform and giving strong contention to the other contestants all over the world is itself a big deal and requires a huge amount of determination, belief. We salute the love and passion they have for their sport and careers that have helped them to reach this far and motivate them to win the finals and grab another gold!
