Lovely Professional University finally concluded the Induction Ceremony that started on the 26th of July. This marks the end of formal welcome of the freshmen into the college via informative sessions, cultural showcases and other fun activities intended to break the ice.

Today was the final day of Induction for the students who had opted for Business and Commerce related streams, such as BBA, MBA and so on. The session started with Ms. Mamta Rana from the department of Academics and Examination explaining the gradation system, the passing criterion, the marks distribution and the other relevant information that every student must know in order for them to better understand the way that the university works, and to be better prepared for their academic assessments.

This session was followed by an interaction session of the new students with the worthy Pro Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, Mrs. Rashmi Mittal. She told the Freshmen how the University had grown from a single building establishment to a 58 block Education hub, how the count of students went from 250 to more than 25000 in a span of only a few years, how they grew from only 4 degree courses to more than 250 courses being taught, of how LPU today is synonymous with quality education. She showed the new students a video showing the growth of LPU as it happened through the years. She also encouraged the students to utilize the culturally diverse campus environment for their own benefit, and make friends from different places to learn from their culture. She also asked the management students to come up with their entrepreneurship ideas and promised all the support needed to convert their ideas into reality and pointed out at some student run ventures within campus. She ended her session by showing a student made video that showed the student life in campus.

The next session was the presentation of certificates to the successful candidates of the Computer Literacy Program undertaken by the Community Services Cell of Lovely Professional University which aimed at imparting basic computer skills to the drivers, housekeeping staffs, peons and the people of the villages around the university. It was the first iteration of this program, yet the response was overwhelming. Three batches ran at full capacity in Division of Student Affairs, where there were 15 computers dedicated for this course. In fact, two more people had to be accommodated as 47 people registered for the pilot project. It was a 100 hours course running from 1st June to 31st July, 2016 followed by a proper evaluation, in which 38 people were meritorious. These people were awarded certificates from the Community Services Cell on stage by the worthy Pro Chancellor, Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, as well as other heads of departments. The trainers were also felicitated on stage by them. The students were encouraged to come up with more of such programs that can help uplift the society.

The last session of the induction was intended to impart information about the Career Services provided at the University by Mr. Ankur Sodhi, Head of Career Services Cell of Lovely Professional University. He let the students know the previous placement drives that saw more than 300 companies visiting the campus for recruiting purposes. He told them that a career is the ultimate goal of every student of the University, and that everyone would have to work towards it, and LPU along with their 150+ trainers in verbal abilities, soft skills and aptitude would help them at every turn.

As the students stepped out of the SSDM hall and into their academic journeys, it was time for the greenhorns to get into the shoes of a LPU student, and get serious after these many days of fun and games.
