LPU Faculty Dr. Chandan Adhikari has done groundbreaking research in the field of ‘Nano Drug Delivery System‘ to control Chemotherapeutic drug delivery. Dr Adhikari has completed Masters from IIT Hyderabad, India and PhD from IIT Indore, India with specialisation in ‘Applications of Nano-materials in Biomedical Science’.

Drug delivery system composed of mesoporous silica nanoparticles suffers from many drawbacks. Out of many challenges, two major challenges in drug delivery through mesoporous silica nanoparticles, are premature leakage and fast release of the drug molecules.

Because of these most of the time efficiency of the drug delivery system become very low. In this work, Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles (MSN) have been modified using zeolitic imidazole framework through the formation of a hybrid system. Through his research, he reformed ‘Silica’ using the ‘Metal-Organic Framework‘ (MOF) to make it function more efficiently for drug delivery inside the body.
