The success of students from Lovely Professional University in sports tournaments is quite common now. LPU has a long history of producing some of the country’s most talented athletes, many of whom have gone on to compete at national and international levels, bringing honor to our nation. Taking the same motivation forward, the Lpu rugby team (men) has won a gold medal in all India Inter-University Championship held at KIIT, Bhubaneshwar!
Rugby union, also referred to simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that was invented at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. For those who are unfamiliar with this exhilarating sport, it is a close-contact sport. People of different ages are participate in the well-liked sport of rugby union worldwide. Around the world, more than 6 million people played in 2014, 2.36 million of whom were registered players.
One of the two rugby football codes is based on running while holding the ball in hand. This game is often played between two teams of 15 players each, using an oval-shaped ball on a rectangular area known as a pitch. At each end of the field are goalposts in the shape of an H.
LPU has always encouraged outdoor and indoor games. It does not just offer a swimming pool, badminton courts, squash courts, and a shooting range but cricket, football, and basketball grounds too. Students have traditionally performed well by seizing opportunities and thriving on larger stages. They proved that a world-famous career in athletics is possible beyond academics. Lpu’s rigorous training combined with the unbeatable spirits of our vertos results in such a marvelous achievement to take pride in.
Every single triumph brings with it a sense of joy and fulfillment. As we celebrate the victory of our sportsmen, deep down we know that many more moments are bound to be celebrated and are just on the way.
