LPU students have achieved a lot throughout the years in several departments including cultural, sports, and academics along with holding a huge placement record every year! Little did we know the students of our university will bring Olympic medals home and be awarded the Khel Ratna award individually.

Lovely Professional University has received an enormous honor yet again and proved that our students are no less in any stream or far behind in bagging any award. LPU B.Tech. Computer Science Engineering student Gourav Singhal has been awarded the very prestigious Karmaveer Chakra Award 2020-21. Along with it, he has also been named the Champion of Change and Rex Karmaveer Global Youth Fellow by iCongo which is in partnership with the United Nations (UN)!

Gourav Singhal has served as a volunteer in LPU-NSS and even got selected for the National Service Scheme (NSS) Award 2018-19. For his incredible contribution to his team and the society, Gourav was given a silver medal, an amount of Rs. 1,00,000, and a citation as well by the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind in the ceremony of Virtual National Service Scheme Awards. The ceremony was held on 24th September 2020 at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

This 22-year-old final year student was selected as one of the top 32 volunteers and was the sole candidate from a private university to win this award. Out of 42 institutes and schools, 298 universities and colleges and 40,00,000 NSS volunteers, Gourav Singhal was the one whose work got recognized and was awarded this prestigious award.

Gourav comes from Haryana and has always expressed his interest in social service which was his sole motto of joining the LPU-NSS organization in 2017. He is an inspiration for many of us and has allowed many to look up to him and work for social benefit and the betterment of the future and we congratulate him for the same!
