Whether you find it difficult to take your eyes off science fiction novels (yes, I’m in love with Frankenstein too) or you indulge in reruns of movies in this genre, this world of fantasy is home to teens and young adults. The chase and adventures of an imaginary world are irresistible to the new age readers and an evolving branch of literature.

To celebrate the fictional existence of futuristic science, time travel, space travel and my favourite extra-terrestrial life, every year on January 2nd – National Science Fiction Day is observed. This day was chosen to honour Isaac Asimov’s official birthday. Born in Russia, he was a prolific science fiction writer who gained popularity for his imaginations of computerized beings and devices in outer space.

As it is a day of visionary content, it is celebrated by organising writing contest in this genre and places such as science museums and parks promote the importance of this day.

The following are top 5 Science Fiction Books and Movies everyone must watch!

Movies :

Star Wars
The Planet Of Apes
Interstellar
Edge Of Tomorrow
The Matrix

Books :

1984 – George Orwell
The Time Machine – H.G. Wells

Hope you celebrate the day with at least one of each. Happy Science Fiction Day!
