The Inaugural session of Short-Term Course on Augmented Reality based Mobile Application Development with Unity Game Engine and Vuforia Development Kit went up to a ceremonial start with the welcome address of Dr. Sunaina Ahuja, Professor and Dean, Human Resource Development Center, LPU. Welcoming the participants from industry and academia, she mentioned the ability of augmented reality to increase engagement and interaction, its utilization in various fields in the future and motivated the audience to come up with creative projects useful for the community by utilizing the learning from the course. Dr. Gurpreet Singh Sahi, Assistant Professor and an experienced expert of Game Design and Augmented Reality from School of Computer Science and Engineering, LPU was invited as the resource person for the ten days course organized by Human Resource Development Center and School of Computer Science and Engineering, LPU.
The course was designed to provide practical know-how of augmented reality-based application development to scholars and industry professionals. The participants went through hands on training on Setting up Unity environment and Vuforia platform and how to navigate its tools, determining the scope of Augmented reality applications, converting ideas into a concept that can be presented to others, understanding different forms of Augmented Reality and their applications and building Augmented Reality Applications for Android & iOS.
The participants came out with creative projects on augmented reality based AR projects compatible with mobile devices. The response of the Subject Matter Expert to the queries of the participants was appreciated. “The training program was conducted really well and the teacher was knowledgeable and active as well as taking time to answer all of the doubts we had! We got to learn a lot of new things and were able to make apps and such projects we never thought we could make! It was a really amazing experience and I had a good time and learned a lot during this training program”, wrote Arpit Verma, a participant of the program.
