Thousands of new students from different countries and India have got admissions at Lovely Professional University for new academic session 2018-19. In order to make these students start a new phase of their academic journey, LPU has devised a special 15-Day Induction Programme. This year, students from 70+ countries including China, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Liberia, Qatar, Ghana, Maldives, and all 29 Indian states are joining the university. During the induction program, new students are briefed about university systems, policies, support mechanisms and multi-ethnic campus life at LPU. Following the American system of the induction program, students are being open to joining many activities, fun-games, campus rounds & city tours. Many other ice-breaking sessions have also been chalked out to energize new students for exhibiting their potential. Already commenced, the induction program is to continue up to 2nd August 2018.
Top officials from industry and other high-ranked officers from Government and Private sectors have also been specially invited to interact with new students to broaden their visions. Head Gagandeep Singh Nagra (Android Enterprise, Google India); Director Human Resource Manish Jain (Hyatt Regency); Regional Director Jagmohan Singh (India, Sri Lanka & Maldives, Lockheed Martin); Director Surinder Singh (Semi Conductor Laboratory); CEO Dr Chander Prakash (Sangha Seeds); CEO & MD Deepak Chhabra (Crocs India) and others are inspiring new students of their respective domains.
Greeting new students on joining LPU community, Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal, Senior Deans, Executive Dean and other senior faculty members are motivating them to start their new academic journey for bright tomorrow. Students are being encouraged to get acquainted with and immersed in the university’s culture of diversity. Senior students at LPU are also presenting various activities for their entertainment and guidance. New students are also guided to work for their suitable placements in the top industry right from the beginning.
New students and their parents, especially who have come from distant places situated thousands of miles away, are appreciating the induction program as an inspiring initiative of the university. Two of the parents from far off states, M Rama Krishna of West Godavari District Andhra Pradesh and Sanjay Chaurasia of Varanasi share: “We are very happy to see the nicest programmes chalked out for new students at LPU. Our wards are very happy to commence their higher academic journey at LPU. We feel that the LPU study environment and functioning are very comforting for new students. Our wards have got admission on scholarship basis in programmes of their choices, ECE and B Pharma. We have preferred LPU as we got impressive information about LPU’s performance from internet and feedbacks of known sources.”
Illustrative, during the induction programme, students are also being provided with special induction kits, introduced to culture- career opportunities, alumni information, safety and security measures, activity-centers, hostels and more. Special interactions with parents are made to seek their suggestions for the best growth of their wards. In addition, new students and their parents are also enjoying food carnival, campus shopping facilities and Jalandhar City Tour.
