Lovely Professional University (LPU), through its School of Law, inaugurated the International Conference on Socio-Legal Perspectives in Advancing Sustainable Development Goals (ICSLPASDG–2026), bringing together eminent legal experts, academicians and professionals for meaningful deliberations on law, justice and sustainable development.
The conference opened with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, meditation and welcome ceremony, setting a thoughtful and purposeful tone for the academic proceedings. Dr Anand Pawar, Head, School of Law, LPU, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the significance of engaging with socio-legal perspectives to address contemporary challenges and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The inaugural session was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Hon’ble Justice Paramjit Singh Dhaliwal, Former Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court, and Major General Vijay Kumar, AVSM (Retd.), Former Judge Advocate General, Indian Army. Through their keynote sessions, the eminent speakers shared valuable insights into contemporary socio-legal challenges and explored the evolving role of law and justice in building a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable society.
A significant highlight of the inaugural ceremony was the release of the Conference e-Book, capturing the academic vision and contributions associated with the conference. Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, LPU, felicitated the distinguished guests, along with Dr Anand Pawar, Head, School of Law, and Dr Pavitar Prakash Singh, CoF.
The conference continues to provide a dynamic academic platform featuring guest lectures, expert interactions, academic discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions. The deliberations focus on strengthening the understanding of how legal frameworks, institutions and socio-legal interventions can contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
By bringing together diverse perspectives from the legal and academic domains, ICSLPASDG–2026 seeks to encourage deeper dialogue on justice, inclusion, human rights and sustainable development while inspiring participants to explore innovative approaches to contemporary societal challenges.
