Why Traveling While You are Still a Student is Important

“The world is a book, and those who don’t travel read only one page.”

If ask your college alumni what they regret the most after graduating, most of them will give you the same answer : not travelling during college holidays or studying abroad for a semester or two. So many students graduate without getting a taste of the world around them and regret it later. It is difficult to travel once you are out of college because you get bound by responsibilities like finding a job, securing a home, paying bills, and settling down with a family. Not only that, it can be a lot more expensive, since student discounts no longer apply once you have your degree/diploma. Even if you do get to travel with your family in the future, it is very different from  being out in the world on your own or with a group of friends. Your options become more limited, and your money does not go so far.

Investing in travel is like investing in an education – the results are extremely valuable. You learn so much more than you do from a textbook, or from a class lecture, or from taking test after test with minimal sleep. Through travel, you have the opportunity to see first-hand the things you’ve learned, to put into practice the skills you’ve acquired.Without travel, you will only see the world on a screen or in a book, but you will never get to experience it for yourself. Do you really want to let this opportunity pass you by?

If you ask your alumni the reasons behind their inability to travel despite wanting it more than anything you will get the following responses:

  • Lack of time

  • Tight Schedule

  • Travel too expensive

  • No nearby place to travel to

  • You visit your family every break

Being a student of Lovely Professional University you have a great opportunity to visit a lot of places. Travel to participate in events, travel to study in exchange programs, travel just to travel. Punjab sits in close proximity to scenic Himachal Pradesh, and breath taking Kashmir, this state itself itself offers great travel destinations to foodies, shopaholics, and culture vultures.

Make it possible. Manage your time by doing assignments and projects early, eliminate unwanted tasks from your schedule, save money to travel instead of spending it on unnecessary stuff, explore nearby places and ask your family and friends to travel with you when they can.
