Lovely Professional University BTech alumnus Akhil Kondle was inducted into the India Book of Records for solving two cubes simultaneously underwater in 1 minute and 25 seconds, setting a new world record. The footage has been certified in the Indian Book of Records and is now available online. Akhil stated that he desired to teach children and make their summer vacations more productive, which prompted him to start cubing. He is overjoyed that the authorities have recognised his tireless efforts and have handed him a memorandum. He is now attempting to set a Guinness World Record in the process. Akhil Kondle is a young Indian who holds several worlds and Indian book of records titles. Akhil’s journey to success began at LPU, where he obtained his engineering degree. Although Akhil was an ordinary student, he believed that his friends were more important in his success story than his scholastic achievements. After completing his engineering degree, Akhil was unsure about what he wanted to do with his life, so he chose to take a break and reflect before deciding what he wanted to do next. He began taking tuition lessons during the COVID era, which provided him with an excellent opportunity to put his Rubik’s cube-solving skills to the test during that period. He claims that during the lockdown period, he began studying videos on Rubik’s cube solutions, with Ilayaram Shekar’s Guinness World video being one of the films that motivated him to practice Rubik’s cube and take his love to a higher level.
After gaining some inspiration, he decided to go after the Guinness World Record, which stipulated that he had to solve seven cubes underwater in one minute. He practiced holding his breath for a long period. Together with his buddies, Akhil was able to solve four simple scrambled Rubik’s cubes in 1 minute 40 seconds while submerged underwater. Later, after putting in a lot of effort, he was able to solve up to seven cubes, but he was unable to beat the previous record of seven. He even attempted to shoot under the pool and sent three videos of himself solving five cubes underwater on October 5, 2021, but his attempts were ultimately rejected by the committee. His final attempt to solve two cubes simultaneously underwater came after several failures and rejections, but he was determined to succeed. It took him 1 minute and 25 seconds to complete the task. His video was authenticated by Indian Book Records, and after a long string of failures, he was finally successful in having his name entered into the Indian Book of Records.
