The Division of Youth Affairs at Lovely Professional University organized Women Empowerment Summit 2022 at its Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium, where the Chairperson of National Commission for Women (NCW) Mrs Rekha Sharma interacted with thousands of female students & staff members of the university. Mrs Sharma invoked all LPU and Indian women to be socially, politically and financially empowered to live a sound life.
While interacting, Chairperson Mrs Sharma expressed her desire to see all women socially empowered by standing out in their works. Using simple key-liners, Mrs Sharma awakened LPU women to get noticed by others for their various achievements. The present is for them to fly high with envisioning big dreams. She also wanted them to be able to bear their expenses by being employed or being an owner of businesses. For this women should have education, resources and opportunities. This can also give a great boost to the GDP of the country.
In addition, Mrs Sharma also wants women to be the change & lawmakers, instead of merely lamenting for not seeing good happening around. They should have the power to think, decide and implement thereof. Awakening about voting and voting rights, she emphasized that now the time has come to let men vote and elect them to govern the systems. If they run homes suitably, they can govern the national/state units & bodies as well.
Here, Mrs Sharma highlighted that with such empowerment; India is changing fast, and going to be counted as a superpower of the world soon. India controlled COVID 19 epidemic first of all in the world only due to joint efforts of men and women equally. On this occasion, Mrs Sharma also awarded hundreds of women volunteers at LPU for their illustrious commitment to making a difference in society. All of them had participated in various socially useful projects. Mrs Sharma also assured LPU Management that NCW & LPU will continue working together, in future as well, on Commission related projects.
The ‘Summit’ was presided over by LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal. While welcoming the elite guest, he introduced Mrs Sharma as a change-maker and woman of substance for illustrious works accomplished by her being in the Chair at the commission. Mr Mittal also let the guest note that LPU national and international women are doing great in their respective fields including entrepreneurship, corporate jobs, social awakening and sports like the Olympics. He also anticipated that Mrs Sharma will continue guiding LPU in further launching other women-friendly projects at the campus. Mr Mittal was accompanied by Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sanjay Modi.
