Lovely Professional University has always contributed toward the holistic development of students and makes sure nothing hampers the useful process. They make the students excel in both academics and cultural activities, conducting and participating in events and making us prepared for greater success. Be it national events or international competitions, LPU students have harnessed every required platform and left their print there. This time too, leading to a similar event, LPU students have embraced the Government of India’s prestigious program called ‘AKAM-EBSB: Visit of students to paired states’ and made us proud once again.
‘AKAM-EBSB’ stands for ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav-Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, a scheme launched on 31st October 2015 by the Honorable Prime Minister celebrating the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on the same day. In this program, states and Union Territories are paired with each other to promote the concept of mutual love and understanding making them interact in a friendly way. It involves cultural activities for the enhancement of the structural connection between the variety of cultural aspects present from languages, cuisines, traditions, and music to tourism spots, festivals, sports, etc. It’s nothing but a measure to memorialize the cultural diversity of our country, and understand, adopt, appreciate, and reciprocate the same.
Let’s take an example, if Punjab gets paired with West Bengal, then we can witness Punjabis singing and dancing on Rabindra Sangeet and Bengalis doing the infamous Bhangra on stage. The Punjabis eating rasgullas, ghugni, and sandesh and the Bengalis having makke di roti and sarso da saag for lunch! Punjabis celebrating Durga Puja and Bengalis having a dance at Lohri. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?
To be a part of this amazing program is a huge breakthrough and you’ll be glad to know that LPU has been selected as the ‘Sender University’ for this program to help uplift and nurture young minds for having the experience of their lives! Apparently, students from LPU have become a part of this program at Lendi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Vishakhapatnam. This will help the students get a substantial idea of the diverse cultural beauty of India through the various socio-economic and literary factors.
Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at LPU, and Dr. Nitin Bhardwaj, Deputy Dean, Division of Youth Affairs, Student Welfare Wing can be seen standing with the students and the faculties during the ‘Flag-off ceremony’ of AKAM-EBSB before the students commenced to Vishakhapatnam under the program to wish them best of luck for the journey and make it an eventful experience.
