Onam, a festival that brings all communities in Kerala together, showcases India’s lively festive culture. At Lovely Professional University (LPU), Onam is not just honoured but celebrated with zeal. The campus comes alive with events, traditional clothing, and the scent of genuine Kerala dishes. This year was no different. LPU held the ‘Rang Onam’ event at Block 13 Badminton Court. It was a display of culture, tradition, and unity, organized by the Division of Youth Affairs, Student Welfare Wing, and Student Organization.
The event commenced with eloquent hosts who shared insights about the festival, followed by a bouquet ceremony and the auspicious lighting of the lamp by our esteemed guest of honour, Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal. He graced the occasion with his words of wisdom and blessings for the students. The cultural extravaganza was a highlight, with teams of spirited boys and girls engaging in singing, dancing, and more, setting the stage for festive zeal. Traditional games like ‘Vadamvali’ (tug of war) and ‘Onappattu’ (Onam songs) were part of the day’s events. Students dressed in ‘Mundu’ and ‘Kasavu Saree’ showcased Kerala’s rich culture. The flower Rangoli, known as ‘Pookalam,’ was a visual treat, adding colour and vibrancy to the celebration.
Onam at LPU was more than just a festival; it’s was a celebration of unity, culture, and togetherness. The celebration was a testament to the university’s commitment to fostering unity in diversity. It was day that showcased the true spirit of cultural diversity, making every student feel at home, no matter where they come from. Happy Onam to all!
