It is well-known perception that college girls are very keen to talk about their thoughts and observations. They gossip, express and point out little details about everything and tend to form an opinion about it. But the real question that is often a very untouched subject is what do college boys think about the same things? Today, here at Happenings I decided to decode some of the stereotypes and assumptions that surround the male perspective of social atmosphere and real struggles they face in college. I would also like to tell you that before I interviewed them for the responses, my personal perspective on how men view some of the aspects were off. I spoke with numerous guys who anonymously gave their honest opinions to the questions I asked:
Tell me your perspective on the social image of men?
“I am a 22-year-old final year degree student. I still don’t know how to drive or manage my finances. My parents do most of it. I think its ok and not something to be ashamed of.”
“I am scared of wild animals. I can’t stand visiting a zoo either.”
“I am a thin person and often get mocked for my flattened figure. I don’t know why people imagine guys only with a hulk body and strong arms. I am satisfied the way I am.”
“I am scared of being in a relationship. To commit my honesty to someone. If I can disappoint my family, how can I be sure I will now disappoint someone I just met?”
“I like to study. People call me a nerd, freak, geek and many names but the truth is I’ve learnt not to care.”
“Honestly, I came here because I couldn’t stand being alone at home. My thoughts scare me”
“I am pursuing a degree that my parents wanted me to. I always wanted to be a singer. I secretly sing in performances sometimes. I’m still scared to tell them about it.”
“My parents are very rich and they always give me more than needed to spend. I feel inferior as people think I am rich. I want to be a normal guy who can earn his own fortune and real respect. I want to change my identity sometimes.”
“I am a model and often people tell me how great I look. They don’t know the fact that I am a class topper and swimmer who is intelligent too. I think nobody knows who I am”
“I spend more time with my sister than my friends. They call me for this and say I’m conservative. They don’t know she’s the only family I have left”
