“Humanity is lost because people have abandoned using their conscience as their compass” – Suzy Kassem
That doesn’t apply to all of us, as I found out today. While coming back from my classes I come across a group of students encircling something. Upon inquiring, I came to know that some vehicle had hit a stray dog and left it partially paralysed, and in a lot of pain.
We stopped a passing ambulance, but the scared dog refused to be put on it. I tried too, caressing and reassuring it. But the moment I put it in the ambulance, it shuffled right out. While someone tried to get a vet to come to the campus and help the dog out, I went and got the dog a couple of rotis and a packet of milk, all consumed in few quick minutes.
After sometime, we arranged for an ambulance and forcibly put the dog inside and took it to the vet. The sense of satisfaction we felt after seeing it dog relieved of its pain, was overwhelming. I would like to thank my fellow Vertos for making sure humanity is not yet lost.
