This year’s winter camp of LPU-NSS started with the motto of ‘Community Empowerment’.
On the first day, LPU-NSS volunteers visited LPU’s adopted village of Barna. The volunteers visited and also cleaned the gurudwara’s village. They also interacted with the denizens of the village and learned about the challenges they face. They also made them aware about various Government Schemes that can be of benefit to them.
On the subsequent day, the LPU NSS volunteers began their day by cleaning the whole village. Everyone was equally exalted by watching each other’s enthusiasm. The message that volunteers sought to spread was to maintain a clean environment and follow healthy sanitation practices.
Amidst the whoops of “Swatch Bharat” by the GOI, LPU-NSS volunteers became the torchbearers of the campaign by performing a ‘Nukkad Natak’ carrying the message of ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’. A rally was also conducted to keep the people vigilant about the importance of sanitation. Students and children were motivated and encouraged to carry forward the healthy practices. To seek out potential talents in the volunteers, a talent hunt was also organised in which the volunteers gave performances in music and dance.
On day 4, LPU NSS volunteers started by reminding themselves of the quote, – “Teaching children is an accomplishment, getting children excited about learning is an achievement.” They spent pleasant time teaching children of Barna village. A range of competitions like drawing and colouring was also organised for the children.
They also gave their active participation in Polly-House visit and tree plantation. They learned and gained wisdom from several guest lectures.
The winter camp concluded with LPU NSS volunteers spending time with the school children of Barna village.
