Students’ app may turn dream events into digital reality!

Pushkar Kumar and Hasan Rahman of LPU have created a unique event planning and management app called ‘Land Scape’. The innovative start up mobile app is inspired by ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, a Bollywood movie featuring a wedding planners’ start up by the title name. The movie has two friends building a wedding planner company that puts together dream weddings for its customers. Our real life duo have taken the idea a step further, by developing an app that will help people and planners alike, put together an event with just a few clicks. It will soon be made available on all platforms, and with its user friendly design, is destined to prove a boon to customers and vendors alike.

This innovative app aims to connect all aspects of event planning through a common digital platform. From here, a customer would be able to choose everything from the event to be planned – Wedding, Anniversary, Get Together, Birthday, or a Student Party – to a flexible package just right for one’s needs.  A user would also be able to customize ceremonies based on location, religion, caste, ritual etc. Corporate Houses would be able to get all their seminars, meetings, and events planned with only a few clicks on the go. Similarly, students would be able to get their institutional events, freshers’ parties, and farewell parties organized hassle free. The app would also let vendors engaged in services like catering, light and sound, decoration, and transportation get associated and expand their client base.

Pushkar and Hasan, both Mechanical and Electronics & Communication Engineering final year LPU students, were inspired to go the entrepreneurship route by PM Modi’s ‘Startup India Campaign’. Pushkar, who hails from Dhanbad in Jharkhand State, shares, “At LPU I was part of very big events, including the visits of the Dalai Lama and Sharukh Khan. There I learnt how to plan, conduct, and manage events, which ultimately encouraged me to be an entrepreneur. Just when Hasan and I were planning to form an innovative event management company, by connecting the present event industry with technology, the Startup India campaign was inaugurated. This further boosted our dream.”

LPU’s Incubation Center guided the innovative ideas of these budding entrepreneurs into concrete, efficient plans. Hasan, who is resident of Assam, said, “We applied on the official website of Startup India, our application was vetted by IMB (the Inter Ministerial Board) for its uniqueness and novelty, and we were issued a certificate.” The app has been listed among the 134 selected entities on the Startup India website, and has recognition from the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Government of India). Congratulating Hasan and Pushkar on their success, Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal encouraged other students also to nourish their acumen for entrepreneurship.
