The atmosphere at Lovely Professional University (LPU) was charged with patriotism as the university marked the 76th Republic Day with great fervor. The celebration, centered around the theme “EduRevolution,” reflected LPU’s commitment to revolutionizing education. The ceremony began with the national flag hoisting by Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, alongside Colonel Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU. While the soulful rendition of the national song “Vande Mataram” echoed through the campus, performed by the LPU band.
In the address, Dr. Mittal paid tribute to the freedom fighters and soldiers who dedicated their lives to the nation’s independence. Dr. Mittal stated “Republic Day is not just a celebration of our Constitution, but also a reminder of the empowerment it provides to every citizen. There could be no better occasion to unveil our EduRevolution Initiative—a vision to bring revolution in education. Just as the Constitution empowers 18 year olds with the right to vote and form governments, LPU will empower students to take charge of their education, shaping their own syllabus and complete curriculum. It is time for India to take control of its education system and evolve. LPU is ready to lead this change.”
Dr. Mittal shared how EduRevolution will transform education by empowering students to take control of their learning journey, deciding what, how, and when they learn, and how they are evaluated. This shift from passive to active learning will be enhanced by AI, which will personalize learning, create dynamic tools, and improve efficiency and engagement. While challenges may arise, Dr. Mittal expressed confidence in the students and faculty to overcome them, working together to create an innovative educational model. Dr. Mittal also unveiled the LPU “Rakshak Samman Anudhan” Scholarship for Armed Forces personnel and their dependents, a move to honor the brave hearts of the nation.
The university celebrated its outstanding achievements, including being the first runner-up for both the MAKA (Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Award) trophy and the Khelo India first runner-up trophy. The day also lauded the success of LPU students Nasreen and Neeta Devi, who won gold medals in the inaugural Kho Kho World Championship 2025.
LPU students also marked their presence at the national level. On Republic Day, three NCC and one NSS student participated in the parade at Krtavya Path, New Delhi. Additionally, two LPU students were invited by Startup India to join the Republic Day Parade, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the government’s initiatives. Furthermore, ten LPU Bhangra students performed in the Republic Day celebrations, contributing to a Guinness World Record with 5000 cultural performers.
