“I want to inform all the students that the Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality program at LPU has tremendous potential. The students, who wish to join this sector, will be glad to note that presently the total direct employment in this sector is around 20 million.”, Chancellor, LPU

Qatar Airways, Doha, has selected LPU international student Sonam Deki as Cabin Crew at a salary of Rs. 15 Lakh per annum. Sonam, who hails from Thimphu in Bhutan, has done the B.Sc Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality program from LPU School of Hotel Management and Tourism. Her final examination result is still awaited and she already has a dream job.

Delighted Sonam shares: “I always wanted to work for a top airline service so I preferred to join LPU’s B.Sc Airlines, Tourism and Hospitality program so far away from my native place. The credit for my selection by Qatar goes to LPU’s world class training. My alma mater has helped me realize my golden dreams.”

Sonam also shared that LPU is the only university in North India which has a “simulation aircraft” with business class facilities that is used as an ‘aviation lab’, “This lab helps students to present themselves better than hundreds of other students who compete with students like us during recruitment interviews. I was also on the internship through this simulation lab throughout the year at the campus. I was trained here to greet the guests, make announcements, serve food and beverage, and to handle special passengers, and emergency situations to be a perfect Cabin Crew.”, she said.

Congratulating Sonam, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: “We feel proud that our students are getting absorbed at coveted posts in different sectors, at high pay packages. Such appointments work wonders, as they motivate other students also to work hard for a bright career. I want to inform all the students that the Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality program at LPU has tremendous potential. The students, who wish to join this sector, will be glad to note that presently the total direct employment in this sector is around 20 million.”

The LPU program in Airlines and Tourism provides an opportunity for students to develop academic and industry specific skills linked to the commercial aviation industry. The program makes students understand the structure, nature and operating characteristics of the international tourism industry. It examines a range of contemporary issues associated with the travel and tourism industry, such as product ranges, business tourism, tour operators, travel agencies and transportation for tourism.
