LPU’s most awaited festival, YouthVibe 2020, has begun and this time, its amazing theme is Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity focusing on Social, Literacy, Cultural, Media and Sports department together and thus making this event more sumptuous than last year. YouthVibe always focuses on sports competitions and give it a priority on the first day. This time also enormous sports competitions like Kabaddi, Chess, Basketball, Badminton both for males and females are organized in multiple rounds and students enjoyed and played it with untiring efforts.
Badminton has been organized in the Indoor stadium. It was only for female players. There were multiple knockout rounds and the highest point seeker will play against each other tomorrow. Everyone was waiting for group matches but unfortunately, the whole format was solo vs solo. Boys were also seen enthusiastic in DSA Block13, they were practising with selected participants. Girls from the Department of Physical education and Computer Science and Engineering performed amazingly in the tournament.
No doubt LPU has enormous wisest and competitive brains and it was seen clearly during chess registration and entry time. Chess has also been organized in Indoor stadium aka Block 49. There were no knockout rounds, a vast number of rounds were played between players and who so ever has the highest point has been called for the Day 2 rounds. Maximum players were from the Department of Computer Science.
Basketball was held for both male and female students. A total of 16 teams participated in which most teams were outsiders. BH4 basketball ground was full of enthusiasm and cheering. On the 13th of February, it was the knockout match in which only eight teams survived which will play for the quarter-final on 14th and semi-final and final on 15th February. Teams arrived at 11 AM with full energy and the first match between LPU Cagers and Klaws was breathtaking. DAV Jalandhar and Fakerz Academy also performed well.
