* GNDU Amritsar declared 2nd and Punjabi University Patiala 3rd

Lovely Professional University (LPU) has lifted the North-Zone Inter-University Hockey (Men) Championship-2022-23. Of the last four matches played after all other league qualifiers; LPU team gained 7 points with three wins and one draw to become overall champion. GNDU Amritsar accumulated 5 points with 2 wins and one draw; and, Punjabi University Patiala got 3 points with one win and one draw.
Among 31 participating universities with 534 players of the zone; LPU men displayed splendid skills with their sticks. LPU team’s Captain Vishal Yadav shared that LPU team dominated the game throughout and converted the field actions, corners and strokes into goals to become overall champion.
Five-day championship was declared closed on 30th December 2022 at Lovely Professional University by its Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal. She also awarded winners with respective medals and trophies. Congratulating all, Mrs Mittal invoked all players to keep practicing for the next victories to ultimately take the winning spirit to 2024 Olympics for India to lead.
Also present on the occasion were International Hockey Empire & Punjab Hockey Empanelling Committee Member Gurinder Singh Sangha, Senior Dean at LPU Dr Sorabh Lakhanpal, Assistant Director Sports Dr V Kaul, officials, coaches and team managers of participating institutions. While sharing their experiences all applauded the arrangements made at LPU for the smooth conduction of the championship.
Worth mentioning, LPU students Anujpreet Singh & Arijeet Singh Hundal were declared the best goalkeeper and best forward, respectively, of the championship. Similarly, GNDU students Sanjay and Gurmanjeet Singh declared Best Half-Back and best defender.
