The Consul General of Canada in Chandigarh Mr Patrick Hebert paid a visit to Lovely Professional University, where he met Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal. During the meeting, joint academic and research possibilities between LPU and Canada were talked about. Several issues related to joint activities in relation to developing and strengthening relations between LPU and Canada, particularly on the lines of education and business, were also discussed.  The guest was informed that LPU is India’s most internationalized campus where 3000+ international students from 50+ countries are pursuing programmes of their preferences, with globally benchmarked curricula.

The Canadian diplomat, with over 25 years of experience also shared his strong interest in international peace and security issues. On this occasion, various related issues were also mutually agreed upon including students and faculty exchange programmes. The Guest also had a campus tour and conversed with some of the Canada aspirant students too.

Prior to this, the high-profiled guest was accorded a warm Punjabi welcome by the department of cultural affairs at the university on his reaching at the campus. An avid fan of Punjabi culture, he also shared the rhythms of dhol and bhangra dance.  

LPU’s Vice President Mr Aman Mittal, who also governs international affairs at the university, also apprised Consul General about various existing tie ups with top Canadian Institutions for exchange programmes. It was also informed that a large number of LPU students have opted for international credit transfer programmes between LPU in India and Canadian Institutions. Mr Mittal was accompanied by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Lovi Raj Gupta and Associate Director Supriya Mathew.

In fact, LPU has strong ties with many Canadian educational institutions. LPU takes pride in establishing healthy relations with many of the most credible Canadian institutions including McGill University,  University of Winnipeg, Guelph University, Trent University and more.
