A new world record was created by over 3.5 lakh people on Saturday by singing the Indian National Anthem at an event at Kagvad, in Rajkot district of Gujarat.  The previous such record was held by Bangladesh, where 2,54,537 people sung the Bangladesh national anthem together in 2014.

These people had assembled on the occasion of the installation of the idol of goddess Khodiyar at the newly-built Khodal Dham temple. The temple trust received a certificate of the record from Guinness World Records officials.

The trust also set two new records for Limca Book of Records, by organizing the longest `shobha-yatra’ or procession of around 40 km and a 1008-kund `mahayagya’. Trust officials claimed that over 50 lakh devotees were estimated to have visited the temple during the five-day installation ceremony which began on January 17.
