* The conference was themed on SDG 3 – Good health and well-being
The School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at Lovely Professional University (LPU) organized its 5th International Conference on Intelligent Circuits and Systems (ICICS-2023). The hybrid conference provided a platform for constructive dialogue to both international and national participants.
The conference called for novel contributions aiming at intelligent circuits and systems towards attainment of targets and indicators for SDG3 as a broad area. Similarly in secondary areas, targets were signal and image processing; machine learning; communication; embedded systems & internet of things; sensor network; VLSI systems; control and robotics; electrical power systems; optical materials and sensors.
The Chief Patron of the Conference, LPU’s Founder Chancellor & MP (Rajya Sabha) Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal appreciated the theme of the conference and its current need. Dr Mittal also congratulated the participants for linking the theme with the field of EEE. On this occasion, LPU Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Lovi Raj Gupta were accompanying Chancellor Dr Mittal.
The conference had four technical sessions wherein the eminent research scholars from different areas of the world participated. Eight international delegates presented their papers. The keynote speaker Prof Dr Mufti Mahmud of Nottingham Trent University (the UK) shared his latest research in brain signal analysis and neuro-prosthetics. The latter is a multidisciplinary field related to neurosciences and biomedical engineering. It aims at replacing or modulating parts of the nervous system that get disrupted in disorders or injury.
Director, NIT Kurukshetra, Prof. (Dr.) B. V. Ramana Reddy provided a unifying brief on what is learnt in electronics engineering and explained the need for value-based education. Head, Siemens Centre of Excellence, Prof. Brahmjit Singh also highlighted various allied perspectives. More than 240 articles were received from around the globe, which are to be published in an American publishing from the Taylor and Francis, CRC Press.
The conference provided an opportunity to motivate the research community to find new solutions for SDG3 related problems; exchange new ideas, applications, experiences; find regional and global partners for future collaboration; and, add value to the path forward and road map for timely achievement of SDG3 targets & indicators.
ICICS at LPU is a series of conferences initiated by its EEE School, where 5th one is focused on intelligent circuits and systems for achieving the targets in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-3. This goal is identified as ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’ by the United Nations. In fact, these goals are the targets settled by the global agreement for global development. There are 13 defined targets and 28 measurable indicators for SDG 3.
