ThePrint's Democracy Wall is Coming to LPU

Democracy Wall is a free speech campus initiative by ThePrint. It provides a platform to the young and politically aware youth to express their thoughts and opinion. It brings the millennials forward to engage in stimulating conversations regarding governance, politics, and society. The Democracy Wall emerged in China in 1978 when the county’s citizens voiced their opinion and raised questions on the authority by sticking posters on a wall in Beijing. The movement empowered the people and led to the Chinese Democratic Movement.

The aim of this initiative is to create citizens that are empowered, well-informed and ready to engage in issues involving governance society and, politics. It offers young and aware Indians a platform to express their thoughts and aspirations: in voice, prose, verse, painting or music. Previously, ThePrint’s Democracy Wall has held episodes in Symbiosis University, Punjab University, North-Eastern Hill University, Somaiya Vidyavihar, Amity University and, BITS Pilani. Comedian Abijit Ganguly and many other renowned personalities will visit the campus during the event.

The event will be held on 17th August 2018 at LPU campus. During the event, photography and opinion piece contest will also be held. The theme for the photography contest is “Love is better than hate” and the theme for the opinion post contest is “What can Indian universities do to address sexual harassment on campus?” The deadline for the contest is 16th August 2018. Winners will get exciting prizes by ThePrint.
