On 17th and 18th February, 2017, aspiring journalists from the department of Journalism and Mass Communication participated in an engaging workshop on the real working of the media and news industry, organized by the department.
The esteemed guests at the workshop included Rajesh Kumar Singh, National Bureau Head, Gujarat Samachar Group, who was also the principal correspondent at Sahara TV Network; Devendra Shastri, Editor of Amar Ujala and Head Input, CNBC Aawaz Mumbai; Amrendra Rai, Editorial Consultant at CNEB TV Network, Senior Producer at Zee News, SAHARA SAMAY and India TV, Senior Sub-editor at Indian Express Group (Jansatta); Vikrant Kumar, Senior Editor Promo and Programming at News World India, Video Editor at ETV, Delhi; Souvagya Kar, Deputy Director (News) All India Radio, New Delhi, Sr. Reporter at Doordarshan News, New Delhi, and Reporter at Asian Age, New Delhi.
The guests shared their experiences in their respective fields which gave the students an overview of how things get done in the news industry. The workshop was a huge boost for the budding journalists as it gave them an insight at not just one but various paths which they may tread in their careers.
