As per the orders and suggestions of the government to observe academically non-functioning university, till Sep 30, 2020, due to coronavirus scare, Lovely Professional University has taken innovative steps for continuing uninterrupted teaching. LPU has started virtual classes for students to attend these from their homes or hostels. In addition, entry to LPU Campus is only after proper, needed temperature and allied check-ups. All classrooms, faculty-staff rooms, cabins and furniture are being sanitized as per requirements.

LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal shares: “Trying to beat this period of non-teaching, we have chosen to take classes online for some time where all teachers will continue teaching through online lectures, presentations and video calls.

In fact, to serve such a purpose, the university has its own an all-purpose chat app ‘LPU Live’. It empowers communication, collaboration and engagement all on a single platform. LPU students, parents and staff members can stay connected with the university and never miss important discussions. This App is just equal to ‘WhatsApp’ functioning and has also been integrated with the online University Management System (UMS). This App can be used across all platforms-Mobile (iOS, Android), Desktop (Windows, macOS) and Web. Some of the features of this ‘App’ include group messaging and private chat; advanced search; unlimited chat history; real-time push notifications; one-to-one or group ‘Audio-Video’ calling; screen sharing; file sharing and more.

Mr Mittal also informs: “We have advised all students to download this app — LPU Live — and the university online system. Through this messaging system of the university, students will be automatically enrolled once they download the app. The teachers will share their lecture notes and assignments through this system. Students can also submit their assignment back on the university online system, where faculty members, too, have access.
