Qawwali is a 700 year old tradition and the most popular form of Sufi Music. Amir Khusrau Dehlavi, a sufi saint of the Chishti Order, fused together traditions of Indian, Turkish, Persian and Arabic music in the late 13th Century to create this art form as we know it today. The Qawwals or musicians were patronised by the State and Mughal Rulers – Akbar and Shah Jahan had many eminent musicians in their courts.

Modern day maestros like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Ji, Badar Ali Khan Ji, Aziz Mian Ji, Bahauddin Qutbuddin Ji, Habib Painter Ji are credited with popularising the art form of Qawwali in the our times.
