Promoting Women Entrepreneurship, LPU organized ENPRENDIA – Enhancing Female Entrepreneurship in India seminar at the Innovation Studio of the university. In this context, an awareness programme on the global role of women was discussed by the Vice President of Tata Business Excellence Group, Mr Ravi Arora. A large number of enterprising female students interacted with the invited guest and got the inspiration for their possible and on-going entrepreneurial projects. This initiative, under Tata Group’s entrepreneurship programme, is co-funded by the European Union.

Laying emphasis on providing even-handed opportunities to female students representing diversified groups, Mr Arora informed about various prominent women entrepreneurs of the country. Sharing the stories of their struggles, challenges, he informed that with minimum support women have proved that leading a company all by themselves is not beyond their understanding. Naming some prominent women entrepreneurs of the country, he also shared that India has become a hub for growing commerce day by day, and Indian women have left no stone unturned to make the most of it. He added that hitherto, male students are preferred for entrepreneurial projects but now the time is to provide equal chances to female students for brilliant success through their ideas.

Mr Arora also addressed about his book Igniting Innovation –the Tata Way. Here, it is shared that headquartered in India, the Tata group is a global enterprise, comprising thirty companies across ten clusters. The Group operates in more than 100 countries across six continents. Over the years, Tata has fired the imagination of people across Tata companies and has become one of the most sought-after platforms for Tata managers. It has been presented to and researched by management experts globally, including those in Harvard Business School, London Business School and more. Mr Arora manages the innovation programme at the Tata Group worldwide.

Informing about the programme and its objectives, Head Division of International Affairs at LPU, Mr Aman Mittal shared that “the general objective of ‘ENPRENDIA’ is to enhance entrepreneurial culture among female population in Higher Education Institutions. It is to promote gender equality and gender equity not only inside academic institution but also extending it to the society and local communities. This will help the society economically and also expose the potential that a woman holds.

Highlighting, LPU has the entrepreneurial research centre in the form of Innovation Studio, which has made students work together on innovative ideas. It also serves as a great platform to encourage female participation in creating and sharing entrepreneurial ideas. Here, diverse activities regularly and equally promote entrepreneurial mindset among young women along with their counterparts.
